Breakout Sessions:
Participants can choose up to three breakout sessions focusing on ways parents/caregivers can support their students to Belong, Grow, and Succeed.

Family Engagement Tip of the Month |
November is Family Literacy Month
|
National Family Literacy month celebrates the important role families play in their children’s education. From before they go to school, through their school career, families have a critical role in building literacy skills. Literacy includes reading, writing, and speaking!
How can I support literacy in my children throughout school?
Read Together - Reading picture books when they are young, moving into chapter books, and even each person reading on their own in the same room builds reading skills such as comprehension, listening, and talking about what you’ve read. It also creates a shared love of reading!
Write Together - Create a family journal to which everyone can contribute. Encourage everyone to write anything they want - it may be a short story or poem, reflecting about your day, or sharing jokes and memories. To engage older kids, you can even make an electronic version using apps on your phones.
Talk Together - Our lives get busy with school and activities, and it’s easy to step away from family dinners. If your schedules are packed, try to plan a family dinner at least once a week. Plan the meal together, cook together, and engage in conversation about your week. Check out The Dinner Table Project for conversation starters and other ideas.
