Please review the maps on our website under the "Announcements" tab to ensure you know the layout and process for morning drop off and afternoon pick up. As students enter the property and are dropped off by buses in the morning, 6th graders will go through the door where the red tables are located. 7th grade will also enter through that door, but they will go to the gym before being dismissed to homeroom. 8th graders stay out front until being dismissed to their homeroom class. If students are dropped off by a car, they will enter a door on the side of the building. 6th graders will report to the cafeteria, 7th grade will report to the gym, and 8th graders will walk around the front of the building with the other 8th graders.
Please review our policy found under the “Students” tab on the website. We are expecting cell phones to be out of sight, silent, or off for the duration of the day. Out of sight can be completely in a pocket, in a bag, or in a locker. This also applies to headphones and earbuds of any kind. For students with smart watches, we are allowing the smartwatch to be worn if it is used just as a watch to tell time. If a student is using it for any other purpose, our policy applies. If students need to contact a parent/guardian, they are certainly welcome to come to the main office to do so. We want to align our expectations to communication coming from our county and superintendent. We want to remove all barriers from students so that they can focus on instruction and be amazing scholars during their time here at CMS.
Don't forget to look at the school supply list on our website. It can be found under the "Students" tab. Thank you in advance!

Please remember to review the dress code with your student. It is found in the student/parent handbook. We have placed a link to the student and parent handbook under the “Students” tab on our website.
Our dismissal will follow a specific order throughout the year. In the past, we dismissed walkers/bike riders starting at 3:55. Then, we dismiss car riders after that. Finally, we dismiss bus riders, by grade level and staggered, to ensure that we have a safe and orderly environment for students and staff. Please understand that we will be practicing this process during the opening days of school, so it will take a bit of time to make it as efficient as possible. Our goal is to start dismissal at 3:55 and finish dismissal by 4:10. Please consider this process when making plans after school, etc. Additionally, our staff parking lot in front of the building is not a location for student drop off/pick up. As a reminder, if you are picking up your child early, they must be picked up prior to 3:15. Thank you for helping us keep our dismissal safe. We appreciate it.
We wanted to share a quick summary of what your students will be doing on their first day to hopefully alleviate some anxiety and trepidation. Students will enter the building (see info for Drop off) and report to the cafeteria and sit with their homeroom (advisor) teacher. If they don’t know who their teacher is, they can report to the gym to find out. They will receive a welcome from the principal with staff introductions. Then, they will go to their homeroom locations and engage in the following activities: schedules/agenda completion, scavenger hunt tour of the building, team building activities, and locker assignment/practice. Students will then go to lunch, followed by reporting to each of their core teachers (LA, Math, SS, Science) and their A Day Encore teachers. Finally, they will report back to their homeroom teacher, debrief the day, and begin dismissal. This day is about making sure 6th grade students are comfortable, connected, and feel great about their start to the school year!
We are excited to see our 6th grade students on Monday, and all students on Tuesday! We hope you have fun this weekend, and you get ready for an amazing school year!
