Safe Routes to Schools Family Survey

Anne Arundel County and Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) recognize that schools are vital community resources. To improve safety and transportation choices for all residents, the County and school district are partnering on Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Accessibility Studies at 20 schools identified in Move Anne Arundel, the County's Transportation Functional Master Plan. The Accessibility Studies will start in fall 2025, and recommendations will be shared with the public in spring/summer 2026.

Your responses to this survey about current transportation choices to and from school will help inform the recommendations in the Accessibility Studies. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Here is the link to the survey.

For more information about the SRTS Accessibility Studies, please contact: Adam Greenstein, Project Manager for the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works, at adam.greenstein@aacounty.org

**Please use Chrome or Edge browser if not using the Survey123 Field App. Other browsers may not be fully supported.

Thank you for participating!

AACPS Academic Calendar Change

Anne Arundel County’s academic calendar is dropping six of its 12 early-dismissal days - the ones that fall at the end of the quarter - and replacing that time with a teacher work day and a full day off for students. The Board of Education unanimously approved the change. Superintendent Mark Bedell proposed changing this year’s calendar and opened it to public comment via an online survey. Bob Mosier, chief communications officer, presented the feedback at the board meeting. Out of nearly 10,000 responses, 91% were in favor of Bedell’s calendar. More than half the respondents were parents, and 28% were district employees. You can see the revised 25-26 calendar here and the revised A/B day calendar here.

Crofton Middle School Mentoring Program

Anne Arundel County Public City Schools (AACPS) has embraced a district-wide strategy to engage more students in school-based mentoring programs. Mentoring within schools has become an increasingly popular and effective way to bring a caring adult or older peer relationship to the lives of youth. The school setting provides an opportunity to reach students in an environment that also allows access to educational, recreational, and developmental support to help enhance mentoring relationships. To learn more about how to become a mentor please click this link for more information. All other mentoring questions should be directed to Andre Dillard at (410) 222-5354 or tdillard@aacps.org.
