School counselors share many resources with students. Students also learn about emergency/crisis resources during their marking period of Health each school year. We wanted to take a moment to share these resources with parents/guardians so that you have them as well.
Congratulations to 8th grader Brooke Aja for being the Crofton Middle School nominee for the Carson Scholarship. The Carson Scholars Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. Scholarship winners receive the honor of being named “Carson Scholars” and are awarded an Olympic-sized medal and a trophy for their school to celebrate their accomplishments. Carson Scholars must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service. Scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of academic achievement and humanitarian qualities, without regard to financial need, ethnicity, creed or religion.

Students are not to bring outside food or drinks to school, nor have it dropped off for them. This includes fast food and/or drinks (such as Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, or sodas). Students can pack a lunch and certainly include leftovers, but we don't want deliveries of outside food to the school during breakfast or lunchtime. This doesn't include bringing your student their lunch box if they forget it.
Attention 7th and 8th graders who have participated in at least one musical at CMS, as part of the cast or the crew. You may be eligible to apply for Junior Thespians. Thespians is the only honor society honoring students who show excellence in theater. See Ms. Hale-Smith to get a copy of the application in the School Counseling Office. Applications are due on Friday 11/22. You can also view the Application and Instructions, Points Worksheet, and Points Record. We plan to schedule our induction ceremony in December. If you have any questions, please ask Ms. Hale-Smith dhale-smith@aacps.org.
The CMS School Counseling Office is sponsoring a toy barrel to collect NEW unwrapped toys, sports equipment, games, books, crafts, etc. for kids ages 1-14. These items will be donated to the Sharing Foundation who will provide them to needy children of working families in Anne Arundel County. Please bring items to the School Counseling Office between Tuesday, November 19th and Monday, December 16th. Thank you so much for anything you can provide. There will be a competition between advisories to donate the most items.
The CMS Scholastic Book Fair will take place December 2nd through December 6th. Students will be attending with their Language Arts classes. Please see the book fair website. Please come to Family Night on Wednesday, December 3rd, 5pm-7pm in the media center.

Please see instructions here to request transcripts if your student is applying to a private school.
Just a friendly reminder that there are no early dismissals after 3:15pm.
Please review the CMS Electronic Policy and Consequences here with your student. All electronics (cellphones and earbuds) are to be OFF and AWAY before students enter the building.
