For parents who are using cell phones for attendance notes, please switch over to using a computer for the time being. There is a glitch in the mobile app system. If a parent has multiple students attached to their Parent Portal account, when they submit a form on their cell phone, it can attach to the wrong student. There is messaging about this issue on the AACPS Parent Portal Page. If that occurs, please email CMS attendance secretary Laura Tayman (ltayman@aacps.org) as well as the school where your other student attends to fix the error.
The Crofton MS MathCounts team tied for second place at the regional competition and qualified for the Maryland state MathCounts competition. William S. was the team's top finisher. In the head-to-head tournament at the end of the competition Eli G. finished 2nd overall and Abby D. finished 4th. The state competition will take place on March 15th in Baltimore.
As the weather starts to get warmer, please remember to review the dress code with your student. From page 23 of the 2024-2025 Student Handbook:
Students are Not Permitted to Wear:
Articles of clothing that promote drugs, alcohol, profanity, obscenity, violence, and symbols of hate;
Articles of clothing that promote gang colors, gang affiliation, gang initiation, or gang-related signs;
Clothing that shows bare skin between the upper chest and mid-thigh, including bare chest, back, or midriff, or underwear.
Students are to dress in clothes that promote a safe and respectful learning environment. Clothes that create a disruptive environment or cause a health or safety hazard, are not appropriate and not acceptable at school. School personnel will consistently and uniformly enforce this dress code.
Please see the Middle School Athletics page on the CMS website for registration and information about Girls and Boys Spring Soccer. All registration forms/physicals due by February 27, 2025. No late paperwork will be accepted! There will be a Meet the Coaches Night on Monday, March 3rd - 5:30pm, Crofton Middle School Cafeteria.
On Thursday, May 29th, our school will be hosting a Hoops for Heart fundraising event to support the American Heart Association. This event is to raise awareness to promote a healthy lifestyle and to support heart healthy activities. Through the Month of February, families can use this link or the QR code below to make donations towards the Hoops for Heart Fundraiser. After the completion of the event, we will compile the donations from each grade level and announce the winning grade with the most donations after Memorial Day weekend. These students will earn an award the following week. Our goal for this year is to raise $2,000.
Join us for a special night celebrating the diverse cultures and traditions of our community! Middle and high school students will be hosting International Night at Crofton High School on April 4th at 6pm.
