Crossing guard hours on Davidsonville Road are 8:45am-9:15am in the mornings, and 3:55pm-4:15pm in the afternoons. Please remind your students that they should only be crossing this very busy road within those time frames. We want to ensure the safety of all students.

Center of Applied Technology (CAT) South will be hosting "A Night in the Trades" event on Tuesday, April 8th, 5:30pm-7pm, where students can participate in hands-on experiences and watch skills demonstrations by teachers and current students. See flyer for details.

April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community. Sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy, the Month of the Military Child is a time to applaud military families and their children for the daily sacrifices and the challenges they overcome. AACPS will PURPLE UP on Wednesday, April 9, for military kids! Wear as much purple as you can.

Congratulations to Navi D. and Lily L. for being the winners of the Pi Day challenge. Each of these students were able to recite over 200 numbers of pi!

CMS chorus singers attended a chorus fieldtrip at Crofton High School. They sang for a panel of three judges, participated in a clinic workshop with an amazing director, and sight read two exercises after a one or five minute study period for accuracy. We would like to congratulate the CMS Chorus singers for scoring STRAIGHT SUPERIOR ratings!

Congratulations to Thomas B., Sophia T., and Jack H. of the CMS SeaPerch team for qualifying for the SeaPerch International EXPO to be held in May at the University of Maryland! This is an outstanding achievement that reflects the dedication, creativity, and perseverance the team, as well as the exceptional leadership and support provided by teachers Maggie Johnson and Debby Prestridge.

Over one hundred teams competed at the United States Naval Academy's Seaperch Regionals on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

The CMS Wellness Committee held a faculty/staff 5K. Participants either ran a 5K, biked at 5K or 10K, or walked 1.3 miles. Congrats to all!

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day! The Crofton Middle staff wore "Eagles Choose to Include" t-shirts to show that we choose to include and support World Autism Awareness day!

The CMS Got Talent Show will be held on Thursday, April 10th at 6:30pm. The Talent Show is sponsored by the 8th grade CMS Tri-M music honor society chapter 9758. Tickets are $10 and can only be purchased through OSP here. Doors open at 6pm. You must show proof of your ticket order to enter.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health in partnership with the Center of Applied Technology North will host a mental health awareness family fun day on Saturday, May 10th, 10am-2pm. See flyer for details. (Spanish flyer and Korean flyer)

On Thursday, May 29th, our school will be hosting a Hoops for Heart fundraising event to support the American Heart Association. This event is to raise awareness to promote a healthy lifestyle and to support heart healthy activities. Through the end of May, families can use this link  or the QR code below to make donations towards the Hoops for Heart Fundraiser. After the completion of the event, the students who donated will participate in an incentive or receive a reward. Our goal for this year is to raise $2,000.

As the weather starts to get warmer, please remember to review the dress code with your student. From page 23 of the 2024-2025 Student Handbook:

Students are Not Permitted to Wear:

• Articles of clothing that promote drugs, alcohol, profanity, obscenity, violence, and symbols of hate;

• Articles of clothing that promote gang colors, gang affiliation, gang initiation, or gang-related signs;

• Clothing that shows bare skin between the upper chest and mid-thigh, including bare chest, back, or midriff, or underwear.

Students are to dress in clothes that promote a safe and respectful learning environment. Clothes that create a disruptive environment or cause a health or safety hazard, are not appropriate and not acceptable at school. School personnel will consistently and uniformly enforce this dress code.
