Parents/Siblings on Property at Dismissal

If you are walking to the property to pick up your child, we ask that you do not stand in the front of the building. Please stand at the corner/end of our bus parking lot and Old Post Road (this is the access road between CMS and CHS). We have a staff member down there who will assist you as to where to stand while waiting for your child. Additionally, our staff parking lot in the front of the building is not a pickup location for students. Please follow the pickup directions sent previously and located further down in this Parent Blast.

Car Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

If you plan to drop off your student in the morning and/or pick them up at dismissal, please see this link with maps describing the procedures.

Early Dismissal Reminder

We strongly encourage you to plan any early dismissals prior to 3:15pm, if possible. This is to allow for high school traffic to be smoother, for our car rider line pick ups to run more smoothly, for our buses to arrive and park, and for a reduction in interruptions to 6th period classes. Please remember this when making appointments throughout the year. Thanks for your understanding!

Student Absence Notes Procedures

AACPS Central Office has established a new policy regarding student attendance. Email messages will NOT be accepted for absence excuses. Schools are only accepting handwritten notes, doctor notes, or online messages via the school system’s Parent Portal located on the AACPS website. Please do not email teachers or the office staff regarding student absences. Click here and under the Videos heading on the right click on “Submitting Attendance Notes in Parent Portal”.

Emergency Card Verification Form

Please make sure that you have completed your child's Emergency Card Verification form. Click here to access the form. You will need your student's birthdate, student number, and 5-digit pin (previously provided by your school). Please call the school if you need assistance.

School Bus Dismissal Location

Parents/Guardians: Please review the school bus dismissal location map with your student so that they know where their bus is parked at dismissal. Once bus riders are called for dismissal, students are expected to go directly to the number location of their bus in the parking lot and get on their bus for the ride home. If there is a substitute bus, the bus will still be parked in the regular bus location. Also don't forget to sign up for mail and text message notifications of disruptions to student bus service here.
