On December 2nd, we celebrated National Special Education Day and 50 years of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a reminder of the ongoing commitment to ensuring every student has access to meaningful, equitable education. Inclusion is at the heart of that commitment - it’s the belief that every learner belongs and thrives when learning alongside peers in general education settings.
When we embrace inclusive practices, all students benefit—academically, socially, and emotionally. Inclusion strengthens classroom communities, builds understanding, and celebrates the diverse strengths each student brings so that every student can belong, grow, and succeed.
