Dear Parents,
As we enter the month of October, we find ourselves in full swing of our school year. Routines are developing and I believe our students are becoming accustomed to the new school year. Our teachers and students have been working hard to get to know each other and build relationships. I would like to thank all the parents who attended “Back to School” night on September 12th. It was a wonderful evening to engage families and share information. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our school office if you have any questions. Downloading the AACPS app will allow parents to use the ROOMS portion to message with their child’s teacher and receive classroom announcements.
We look forward to seeing parents and community members at our Volunteer Orientation on Wednesday, October 2nd at 8:30am (In Person) or 7:00pm (via Google Meet). Please RSVP for one of these sessions using the QR codes. From this orientation, we look forward to variety of opportunities to have volunteers support our school.
As we continue through the school year, it will be important for families to sign in to Parent Portal to check student progress, attendance, as well as view interims and report cards. If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please contact Mrs. McLaren (our Registration Secretary) at (410) 582-4900.
The month of October will be filled with FUN! During this month, we will hold our first attendance challenge of the year. The class in each grade that has the highest number of days of 90% attendance percentage for the month will earn extra recess. On October 25th, we will host our PTA Fall Festival for our Southgate community! The Fall Festival will include Trick or Treat as well as Book Fair Shopping. Please be on the lookout for additional details for these events. On October 15th, at 6:00pm, we will host Hispanic Heritage Night “Roots and Dreams”. This event will include snacks, music, crafts, and school information.
