Volunteers needed for June 6th

We’re looking for volunteers to help make our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) “Summer Rally” a success on Friday, June 6. Our PBIS team has planned several fun and engaging stations, and we need your help to keep things running smoothly.

Sign up to volunteer on June 6: WCES Volunteers: PBIS Summer Rally

We Need Your Help with Arrival and Dismissal

We have had a recent increase in complaints from the Homeowners Association about Waugh Chapel families parking on Snow Valley Lane, Grand and Lea Courts before and after school. This is preventing homeowners from accessing their driveways and creating congestion and unsafe situations. If there is no parking available on campus, the best place to park is street parking on Indian Summer Drive. Please use the paved paths or side walks instead of walking through people's property.

Eco Adventure

That's a Wrap on our Eco Adventures School Partnership

We had a great time this year enjoying all the benefits of our first ever school partnership with Eco Adventures! Students had the opportunity to learn about and engage with animal ambassadors through many fun events:

  • Jungle Express fundraiser

  • Eco Trekkers after school club

  • Primary grades Earth Day assembly

  • Animal encounter at STEM Night

  • 3rd grade virtual field trip

Thank you to our PTA for making all this happen!

In case your kids are looking for more fun with animals this summer, here's one last message from our friends at Eco Adventures...

There are now limited spots for 4 extra weeks of our most popular and previously sold-out camp “Animal Caretakers” AND Outdoor Field Trip one day camps - Turtletacular, Fossil Beach, Sandy Point, and more!! Check it out. Hurry...sign up now! www.ecoadventures.org

Attendance and Grading Update

Vacay Planning

Every year our school team sets goals related to student attendance. This year our goal is to minimize the students who miss more than 10% of school days (18 days) throughout the entire school year. Sometimes families take vacation days when we are not on break. These days are considered unexcused, and can affect your child’s yearly attendance, grades, and school readiness. Because students may also get sick for some of the year, days missed for vacations add an additional barrier to learning. Further, teachers are not obligated to provide make-up work for unexcused absences. We are also encouraging teachers to use the comment section of the report card for open communication with families related to absences.

To help you with vacation planning, we want to share a list of the weekdays between now and the end of the school year that are holidays or break time.  Hopefully you will plan family vacations during these days off and help your kids know school is important.
