Reminders & Notes of Interest

As outlined in the AACPS School Calendar, Monday and Tuesday are 2-hour early dismissal days. We will begin dismissing students at 12:25.

On Friday, November 1st, schools will be closed for all elementary and middle school students.

Kids in Halloween Costumes

Halloween Parade
Our annual Halloween Parade will be held on Thursday, October 31st at 1:15pm.

Families are invited to be spectators along the parade route. The parade route will be determined based on weather and field conditions Thursday morning. Spectators may report to the spectator areas upon arrival - there is no need to check-in at the main office.

Please note, if the parade is moved indoors because of inclement weather, we will unfortunately not be able to accommodate guests/spectators.

In preparation for the Halloween Parade, it is recommended that children wear as much of their costumes to school as possible. Students will have an opportunity to dress/complete their costumes before the parade but please be sure they can dress themselves; we will not be able to accommodate parents coming into the building to help with costumes. Costume accessories that would resemble a weapon (guns, swords, knives, axes, etc.) should not be sent to school.

If your child does not wish to participate in the Halloween Parade or classroom parties due to religious or other reasons, please email your child’s teacher. Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Sokol will be coordinating fall-themed activities for students to complete who would prefer other activities.

Veterans Day- A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

At Windsor Farm, we would like to recognize all of our veterans by highlighting their contributions to our country on our Windsor Farm Elementary Wall of Honor which will be unveiled on November 11th. Students are invited to complete a "brick" for the special veterans in their lives to include on our wall. A paper copy was sent home but may also be accessed digitally here. All bricks are due back to school by Friday, November 8.

Veteran's Day
Parent-Teacher Conferences

As the 1st Marking Period comes to a close, we begin to look ahead to Parent-Teacher Conferences which are scheduled for Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th. To prepare for these conferences, we will be sending out communications to families soon with scheduling links so you may reserve your conference appointment. Parents/ Guardians will have the choice to meet with teachers in-person or virtually on Monday, 11/25. All conferences scheduled for Tuesday, November 26th, will be held virtually.

Student Accident Insurance- Anne Arundel County Public Schools does not provide medical insurance for injuries to students that occur while the student is at school or when off of school property while they are involved in a school-related activity. However, AACPS has selected Bob McCloskey Insurance to provide several student accident insurance coverage options that parents/guardians may purchase. If you do not have health insurance, this insurance may be a resource to consider. To learn more, visit www.aacps.org/studentaccidentinsurance.
