Reminders & Notes of Interest

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Join us in showing support for Mental Health Awareness by wearing green on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025. Together, we can protect the mental health of our children by encouraging kindness, empathy, and healthy ways to handle big feelings. Let’s work as a school community to remind every child: “It’s okay to talk about how you feel.” Learn more about Mental Health Awareness Month at nami.org.

Kids holding Music Notes
Talent Show

🎶 In-Class Music Talent Shows – Coming This June! 🎶

All students are invited to showcase their musical talents in our In-Class Music Talent Shows, held right in the music classroom during regular class time. Performances will begin the first week of June and continue through the end of the school year. Participation is completely optional and not graded.

What can students perform?
Any performance with a musical element is welcome—singing, playing an instrument (brought from home), dancing, musical jokes, or other creative ideas.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Students may perform more than once—solo or in a group with classmates from the same homeroom.

  • All content and materials must be appropriate for a school setting.

  • Students are responsible for bringing everything they need for their performance: music, instruments, accompaniment, etc.

  • Two exceptions:

    • Students who practice piano outside of school may use the classroom piano.

    • If using a YouTube video for accompaniment, please email the link to Mrs. Humphrey in advance so she can have it ready.

Important Reminders:

  • Performances should be rehearsed and prepared—no improvisation.

  • Each performer should introduce themselves and their piece before beginning.

We can't wait to see your creativity and talent shine! 🎤🎹🎻
