Student Service Learning (SSL) helps AACPS students build leadership skills while making a positive impact in their communities. In addition to completing the Maryland graduation requirement, students can explore volunteer opportunities through the ServeAACPS Student Service-Learning Portal and join the Student Service-Learning Leadership Team to expand their service and leadership experiences.
The AACPS Service Learning program has received national recognition, including being named a 2025 Gold Ribbon School District by Youth Service America. Service Learning Manager Lori Fowler was also honored with the National Youth Leadership Council's Service-Learning Practitioner Leadership Award for her outstanding leadership in the field.

What is it?
The Volunteer Portal allows volunteers to easily manage their volunteer activities - track hours outside of school, view and update their profile, and communicate with other volunteers. Why is it important? - Volunteer recognition - Provides AACPS data for state, federal, & private grant applications - Required MSDE reports used for state, federal, & private funding When volunteering, you’re a volunteer, not a visitor! School office staff must sign you in and out as a volunteer for your volunteer hours to be recorded accurately.
Contact your school today to create your Volunteer Portal account to record the hours you volunteer outside of school! |
