Tiger Paws & PBIS News

Course Photo

Dear Park Elementary Families,

Our Tigers are off to a great start, and we are excited to share some updates about our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program!

At Park Elementary, we believe that creating a positive school environment begins with teaching, modeling, practicing, and celebrating positive behaviors. We focus on three schoolwide expectations that help every Tiger feel safe, supported, and successful!

🐯 Positive Actions

🐯 Positive Words

🐯 Safe Choices

Throughout the school day, students are learning what these expectations look and sound like in classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, and other areas of our school.

🐾 Let's Talk About Tiger Paws!

One way we recognize students for demonstrating our schoolwide expectations is through Tiger Paws! Staff members award Tiger Paws when they notice students making positive choices, showing kindness, following expectations, or demonstrating responsibility.

Students can save and spend their Tiger Paws on special rewards and privileges. More importantly, Tiger Paws give us an opportunity to recognize students' efforts and reinforce the behaviors that help our entire school community thrive.

🏡 How Can Families Help?

You can support our PBIS efforts by talking with your child about our three schoolwide expectations. Try asking:

How did you show positive actions today?

Did you use positive words to help someone?

What safe choices did you make?

Did you earn a Tiger Paw? What did you do to earn it?

Remember, positive behavior is a skill that we teach, practice, and celebrate together!

Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us create a school community where every Tiger feels safe, supported, and successful.

With gratitude,

The Park Elementary PBIS Team

Clubs

We are excited to get clubs started!  We are grateful for the many teachers and staff who are sharing their time and talents to lead the many after school clubs we are able to offer this fall.

While we wish we could offer clubs to all students, we thank our Park families for your understanding and support.

Here is everything you need to know, including the application for school meals support (free and reduced meals). Visit this page to access the application. Families must re-apply each year to continue to receive the benefit of free and reduced school meals.  If you have not yet done that for this school year, please do so as soon as possible so that your student does not lose this benefit.

Complete the application for school meals support, even if you do not need or think you may not qualify, and this application could be a help with even more things than just school lunch?  Find out more: (English video) Spanish video)  Additionally, the information from the application is a great help to us at Park so that our school team can best support our wonderful students and families!  Thank you for taking the time to complete the application.
